
Dr. Gonzalez Della Valle is Chief of the Hip Service at HSS and is a world renown expert in reconstructive surgery of the hip and the knee, including hip replacement and resurfacing, partial and total knee replacement, and knee arthroscopy.
With over 20 years’ experience in HSS, he has surgically treated over 15,000 patients with numerous hip and knee conditions ranging from primary hip and knee replacements to revision surgery. He is an expert in minimally invasive surgery of the hip and the knee, and in the use of technology including computer assisted surgery and robotics. He says: “With the use of less invasive surgical approaches, technology and new materials, we have seen substantial improvements in the speed of recovery, in postoperative pain, and in the ability of our patients to return to sports and very active lifestyles”.
He sees patients in the HSS main campus as well as in our satellite offices of Westchester and Paramus.
He is one of the few surgeons who is a member of the prestigious Hip Society, Knee Society and International Hip Society, where the leading advancements and trends in hip and knee surgery are discussed. He has judiciously incorporated some of those latest advancements into his practice allowing patients to reach their fullest potential postoperatively. With over 280 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters authored by him, over 350 podium presentations and conferences in national and international meetings, he is one of the world leading experts in hip and knee replacement surgery.
He holds the Eduardo A. Salvati Chair of The Hip Service and has received several awards for his contributions to advancing hip and knee replacement surgery, including the Acta Orthopedical Scandinavica Research Award, the Sir John Charnley Award, the John Insall Award and the Philip D.
